After launching a gamification agency and taking on a handful of high-level clients, things were going great. It was 2021 and I was working to learn to grow an agency side of my course creation business. Within six months, my parents divorced. I didn’t think it would affect me so deeply as I was happily married, raising three boys of my own. All of the sudden, I wanted and needed more time-freedom.
This lead me to find Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing where you can reverse engineer your books by writing books that customers were already looking for. I spent all of 2022 doing this and within six months I hit my first 5k months, and it snowballed. By January 2023, I had crossed 11K in a month with one income stream. And the words of Russell Brunson, marketing expert, rang through my heart: platform independence. Except I took it one step further: platform income independence. I was able to create new books and in March 2023 I crossed $4,600.49 but the trauma of depending on a platform for an income brings me to the importance of becoming independent. Learn from my mistakes. I’m on a mission to help as many as people possible learn from my costly mistakes.
Here are the three steps to always remaining platform income independent:
By focusing on fundamentals, investing in your learning, and building a diverse portfolio, you can build a skill set that is not dependent on any specific platform and achieve platform income independence.
